Welcome to Mabwe Shona Sculptures
About
Mabwe Shona Sculptures’ started their appreciation of Zimbabwean stone sculptures from a young age, they have always captivated and inspired. Mabwe Shona Sculpture was born from a passion to share Zimbabwean art with the world.
Our sculptures are from many different parts of Zimbabwe. We buy direct from solo artists, small workshops and co-operatives. There are no ‘middlemen’ and all of the money is paid directly to the artist.
Photography
Our sculptures celebrate the natural variations and distinctive characteristics inherent to handmade items. We have taken great care to present each product as accurately as possible in our photos. However, photography rarely does justice to the detail of colour and texture.
We exhibit at various shows and exhibitions in the UK. We can arrange private viewings.

#CareTips
Looking after your sculpture
- For general polishing and dust removal, use a soft cloth and a good quality clear beeswax polish.
- Apply the wax. Allow to dry and buff with a soft cloth.
Scratches or Knocks
- You need to use wet and dry sandpaper to remove a scratch.
- Use a coarse grade first, followed by a less coarse one, and finish with a very fine grade.
- Heat the area gently using a gas gun or hair drier or if the piece is not too heavy over a gas grill.
- Apply a clear beeswax to the area that has been heated as the stone will absorb the polish.
- Allow the stone to cool and polish with a soft cloth. This may be required a few times to build up a layer of polish to match the rest of the stone.
